I may pick it up on Sunday. Give me a week to toy with it, then I'm up for some Hamachi games.

or eviscerating them with cannonballs.

Its like AOE3 except you have a world map to play across and the battles (land and sea) are fought on a terrain map where you have total control.

Economic warfare possibilities are endless, you can occupy enemy infrastructure (farms, mines, ports) and blockade trade routes (and steal the trade income for yourself).

The best economic one i did was a chevauchee through Muscovy (Moscow and the surrounding countryside). I sacked Moscow and destroyed all the economic buildings in the region, then left. i traded the region back to Russia for a peace deal and let them bankrupt themselves by rebuilding the region. It effectively stopped any threat from the east for about 10 years.

The other long term effects of this were that the Russians couldn't afford to build an army to take The Crimea and its vital black sea trading port of Sevastopol.

Haish - i wasnt a big Total war fan, but im hooked on this!

something very satisfing about unleashing a hail of bullets onto the enemy, also sending them flying with a cavalry charge!
