And then Wing Commander 2,3 and 4 came out. 4 was 5 CD-Rs if I recall correctly. (lots of cinematics).

Awesome game....shame there's no privateer MMO (jumpgate?). I could do with another Wing Commander sequel, Mark Hamill and all!

I learned how to network so we could play wing commander head to head! Was 10baseT with terminator cables and all. Mom was pissed case we ran the cable through the house and dad drilled a hole in office floor to connect to other pc in den!

I actually loved wing commander armada the tactical turn based, then jump in and shoot during the encounters.

I think Privateer, MMO, would rock, but alas, Origin sold out so we shall see no more of it they kept the rights and closed it down, sniff.

Another game that I loved the doesn't fit the thread was Castle Wolfenstein 3D.
